Todd Oishi resides in the town of Maple Ridge, which is located in the Fraser River Valley near
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Throughout the year he pursues rainbow, cutthroat, brook and brown trout, as well as whitefish, grayling, steelhead and salmon. Todd has a passion for outdoor photography and writing, and has had his photography and several of his articles published online and in 'The Canadian Fly Fisher Magazine'. He has been a guest speaker at several fly fishing clubs and headlined as a featured fly tier at B.C.'s largest outdoors and fishing show.
Todd has been selected eight times to compete as a member of the Canadian National Fly
Fishing Team (Team Canada), which has traveled around the globe to attend various international competitions. During 2006 Todd flew to the Czech Republic to attend the Czech Nymphing Masterclass, which was taught by Jiri Klima (coach of the Czech national team), and in 2007 he traveled to the River San in southeastern Poland to study Polish Nymphing technique through Vladi Trzebunia. In the spring of 2008 Todd flew to Scotland to study loch-style fly fishing tactics and techniques with John Buchannan (Scottish National Champion), and later that month he made a second trip to the UK to study loch-style fly fishing in the Chew Valley with John Horsey of Team England (England's highest capped International angler).
He actively promotes and instructs fly fishing and casting, and founded a fly fishing club at a
high school in his home town, where he shares his passion for fly casting, fishing and fly tying with its students and teachers. His ultimate goal is to encourage growth and participation in the sport of fly fishing, while providing educated and responsible fly fishers for the future.

Against all odds - in 2003 his team tied another team for 1st place with the same point score; number of fish; and longest fish length.
